Joe Trickey – Young Critic On The Edge

My name is Joe Trickey, I am 21 and recently graduated from the University of Derby, studying Theatre Studies and Education Studies. I have always been a massive fan of theatre ever since I began dancing at age 7, performing ever since. I regularly attend and practice theatre, however also enjoy sports and cooking. I am a current theatre practitioner, I am currently the Youth Theatre Assistant at Derby Theatre, assisting directing on our up and coming main house show, I enjoy engaging with young people to help develop and build their skills on a regular basis. I am expecting an interesting week for the On The Edge Festival with Young Critics, I’m a little apprehensive but also excited by the challenges that it may present.

Ellie Woolman – Young Critic On The Edge

I’m Ellie Woolman- I have just finished studying my A- Levels at Devonport High School for Girls in Plymouth. I’ve been a theatre fan for as long as I can remember; My interest especially lies in musical theatre. I started blogging four years ago and I have collaborated with Theatre Royal Plymouth to create content ever since, including reviewing shows, going backstage, interviewing cast and crew. I was selected to act as a ‘Young Rep’ for the theatre where I meet regularly with a group to help make the theatre more ‘young people- friendly’. I am looking forward to studying Music, Theatre and Entertainment Management when I start university in September. I’m really looking forward to the Young Critics week so I can meet like- minded young critics, learn new critical analysis skills as well as experience a wide range of new theatre.

Come join Young Critics On The Edge at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on July 7th  in the Parkside Building, Lecture Theatre from 5-6.30 to hear the Young Critics critical responses to several productions from On The Edge .
