On the 3rd of July, 12 Young Critics from across Ireland and the UK will descend upon Birmingham for the THE WORLD FESTIVAL OF THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCES.
In the run up to to the Festival we will be profiling the Young Critics who will participating at On the Edge
The two Young Critics that will be travelling down from Scotland to Birmingham are Connor Gibson and Jordan Shaw. Both have been involved with projects with Youth Theatre Arts Scotland and come to the project with great expectations.
Connor Gibson
The name’s Connor and I’m a young carer for my family, I work with kids and love what I do. I’m on the board of directors for Toonspeak Young People’s Theatre and a scout leader.
I have always been interested in theatre and how it makes people think and feel from a young age and I feel with this opportunity I would be able to experience a lot of theatre and actually give my opinion on it and have it heard.

Jordan Shaw – Young Critic On The Edge
Hi! My name’s Jordan, and I’m an arts critic, theatre practitioner, and drama facilitator from Glasgow. I ambled along to a local drama group at the age of 9 and have been involved in the theatre – variously as an actor, a director, a writer, a dramaturg, a critic, and a spectator – ever since. When I’m not studying for my Theatre Studies course at the University of Glasgow, I write theatre reviews for The List magazine and run drama groups for young people. I also work with the Glasgow Youth Arts Hub to develop opportunities for young people to get involved in the arts. I’m extremely excited to be part of the Young Critics programme and can’t wait to delve into the programme of work on offer at On the Edge.
Come join Young Critics On The Edge at Birmingham Repertory Theatre on July 7th in the Parkside Building, Lecture Theatre from 5-6.30 to hear the Young Critics critical responses to several productions from On The Edge .
